Decides on appropriate premium rates and issues coverage. Being an Underwriter (P/C) provides customer services regarding underwriting processes and decisions. May communicate with field agents to gather additional information or to explain underwriting decisions. Additionally, Underwriter (P/C) typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Underwriter (P/C) work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Incumbent should possess two years of lending experience, preferably at a credit union. A college degree in a business-related field or its equivalent of three to five years of related experience is desirable.
Attendance of credit union industry seminars, workshops and conventions may be required. Ongoing professional development is expected.
