SUMMARY:

As a Haag Streit USA Upholsterer you will be responsible for the production of high quality ophthalmic medical equipment and perform detailed upholstery and operation of various equipment and machinery. Employees produce a quality product, make a difference, and partner with others. Employees are engaged by a work culture that is team-oriented, fast paced and progressive.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Upholster a variety of units exam/procedures chairs to work order specifications while meeting production schedules.
• Upholster product using hand and power tools, examine upholstery for correct fit, and quality specifications
• Glue and cut upholstery sets, operate air powered staple gun, operate precision equip.
• Ensure that upholstery work meets quality and precision requirements.
• Operate an industrial sewing machine.
• Maintain safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
• Use troubleshooting skills/interpersonal skills such as conflict resolution, active participation/listening, interpretation, cooperation and flexibility to allow for a successful team environment.
• Maintain accurate records to ensure traveler / quality documents are accurate, traceable and quality issues can be addressed.
• Positively represent and support the Company’s policies and procedures.
• Participate in continuous improvement/quality initiatives in order to enhance production processes to achieve quality, productivity and profitability metrics.
• Perform routine/preventative maintenance on applicable equipment to maximize efficiency, minimize accidents to enhance longer life of equipment and tools.
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing.
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of continuous improvement.
• Work overtime as required.

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Experience upholstering and sewing, preferably in an industrial application.
• Knowledge of materials and fabrics, must be able to distinguish colors
• Must be able to use all upholstery machines and hand tools
• Ability to read, interpret and follow written procedures; understand and follow verbal instructions.
• High level of attention to detail to ensure product meets quality expectations.
• Must have good manual dexterity.
• Interpersonal skills such as conflict resolution, active participation, active listening.
• Able to clearly communicate ideas, problems and solutions to all levels of manufacturing management in both written and oral form.
• Work as part of a team having responsibility for assembling an entire product or component of a product.
• Able to work overtime as needed including Saturdays.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
