PGS Worldwide is actively seeking skilled Upholsterers to support ongoing projects for an Aerospace leader in Lexington, KY.
This is an initial 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity and I will respond immediately to all qualified candidates.
Job Description :
The Upholsterer repairs and rebuilds upholstered furniture, using hand tools and knowledge of fabrics and upholstery methods.
Removes covering, webbing and padding from seat, arms, back and sides of work piece using a tack puller, chisel, and mallet.
Removes defective springs by cutting cords or wires that hold them in place and replaces webbing and springs or reties springs.
Measures and cuts new covering material, installs material on inside of arms,
back, seat, and over outside back and arms of wooden frame.
May operate sewing machine to seam cushions and join various sections of covering materials.
May repair wooden frame of work piece, seats from various types of vehicles, and a variety of items requiring special shaping, cushioning and covering including aircraft insulation and soundproofing panels, repair special devices and assemblies and other items such as carpets, inflatable shelters and tents made of canvas and other fabrics.
Requirements :
Secret Clearance required.
High school diploma or equivalent.
In general, the work of an Upholsterer requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through considerable on-the-job training and experience.
