URBAN AND COMMUNITY FORESTRY (UCF) YOUTH CREW MEMBER - SUMMER 2024

Idaho Conservation Corps, part of Northwest Youth Corps, is seeking young people ages 15-18 int erested in working outdoors while making a positive impact on our urban forests.

Urban and Community Forestry (UCF) crew members complete urban forest health projects for five weeks throughout the Treasure Valley area.

Experienced field staff provide training and education on urban forestry projects such as tree planting and maintenance, wildfire protection, and invasive plant management.

This is tough work. We work in all weather and our projects are hands-on. All training is provided, and you do not need prior experience to apply.

There is a $200 tuition fee to defray operating expenses; financial aid is available.

Tentative Dates : 6 / 3-7 / 5 (session 1); 7 / 8-8 / 9 (session 2).

Location : Boise / Garden City or Nampa / Caldwell, Idaho. Crew members are responsible for arriving at the office on time each day (we can provide info on bus and bike routes as needed).

Project locations generally include city parks, public lands, and private properties in disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Benefits / Tuition :

• $450 weekly stipend (plus potential bonuses), received at the end of the session
• Safety gear and uniforms provided
• Up to 2 high school credits with school approval
• All training provided

Qualifications :

• Age 15-18 at the start date
• US citizenship or permanent residency (green card)
• Positive mental attitude, willingness to learn, and a team player
• Desire to conserve natural spaces and make an impact on the environment
• While no experience with these is required, you should be physically and mentally prepared to :
• Do physical work and be on foot for 8 hours per day
• Follow safety protocols
