Residential Program Manager Job Description

  • Clarksville Area Urban Ministries' SafeHouse program provides residential and non-residential services to Survivors of Domestic Violence. We are looking for a trauma informed and empathetic Advocate to join our diverse and inclusive team.

    BASIC FUNCTION: The Residential Program Manager ensures the safety and security of the SafeHouse Residential Program and crisis hotline services when on duty. Major responsibilities include supervision of Residential Case Managers, direct services to clients, coordinating shelter residential services and record keeping. Utilizes a safe, consistent, and trauma informed response to program participants and staff. Engages in community awareness and education.

    REPORTS TO: SafeHouse Program Director, or Executive Director in the absence of Program Director.

    PURPOSE: To provide supervision of Residential Program Staff and ensure day to day operations at the SafeHouse residential programs are not impacted due to limited staff availability, maintenance issues or miscellaneous needs of the facility.

    HOURS OF WORK: This position generally works weekly Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (includes a clock-out for 30 min lunch); however, this position has on-call responsibilities and flexibility requirements to provide case management or shelter coverage in the event of staff planned and unplanned absences (vacation, sick leave, vacancies, etc.), respond to after-hours emergencies at the residential program, to support staff, and general needs of the agency. In addition, attendance is required at monthly staff meetings.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree in Social Work or in a human service related field preferred; however, education will be considered in combination with experience working with Survivors of Trauma. Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required. Knowledge of and sensitivity to Survivors of trauma and the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence. Openness to work in a diverse and inclusive environment. Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated communication skills, knowledge of community resources and the ability to respond calmly in crisis situations is imperative. A combination of education, training, work, and life experience will be considered.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Oversees, coordinates, and manages all aspects of residential program functions and activities at Clarksville Area Urban Ministries SafeHouse program for Survivors of domestic violence.
    • Provides inclusive and trauma informed advocacy services to Survivors of domestic and sexual violence, including men, women, gender non-binary, LGBTQ , children, Survivors with disabilities and Survivors from historically marginalized populations.
    • Serves as direct Supervisor to the Residential Case Managers and ensures they meet performance expectations through coaching, counseling, and corrective action.
    • Provides case management services to Residential Program Clients during staff vacancy, paid leave, or unexpected illness.
    • Coordinates with a volunteer or provides shelter coverage during Advocate vacancies, paid leave, or unexpected illness.
    • Coordinates all new hire training for residential staff and assists Program Director with coordinating continuing education opportunities for Advocates.
    • Ensures the safety and needs of the SafeHouse shelter, residents, and staff are met at all times.
    • Answers calls on the crisis hotline to assist Callers with information, referrals to community resources, safety planning and emotional support. Assesses Callers to determine if they are eligible for non-residential or residential services.
    • Completes new residential Client intake procedures and orients them to the facility.
    • Conducts exit interviews with residents, as necessary.
    • Supports Residential Program Case Managers with the weekly residential shelter client house meetings.
    • Ensures the shelter facility remains in a clean, sanitized, and organized fashion by completing cleaning and organizing tasks during shifts.
    • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds repeatedly, go up and down stairs, and push/pull furniture.
    • Maintains appropriate boundaries with staff and Clients and protects the confidentiality of the clients we serve.
    • Transports residential Clients to appointments necessary for their healing and transition goals.
    • Coordinates with Grace Assistance to keep communal shelter food stocked for the residential Clients and with Program Director regarding any in-kind donation needs.
    • Completes case notes to document service provisions in a timely manner compliant with agency policy.
    • Attends mandatory staff in-service events such as staff meetings and training as required unless prior arrangements have been made and approved by Program Director.
    • Supports agency staff with community outreach events including Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Sexual Violence Awareness Month.
    • Additional duties as assigned by the Program Director.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS: $40,000 annually. Paid leave and monthly stipend for health insurance available once new hire probationary period concludes.
