An Alabama state agency located in Montgomery, AL is looking for an IT Support and User Acceptance Tester (UAT) for a contract to hire position.

This role will be 100% onsite without exception.

Job Description

• Serve as the Alabama Crossroads IT Support and User Acceptance Tester (UAT) for the USDA/FNS initiative across four states.
• Collaborate closely with the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program on the Crossroads system to ensure vendor-provided functionality meets requirements.
• Assist WIC program staff with business software planning and implementation.
• Conduct quality assurance and unit testing, document, and research problems, and assist in their resolution.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum four years of experience in Applications Development and Support, including programming/systems analysis experience and SQL experience.
• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Math, Information Technology, or related field, including 2 courses in programming.

• Understand and interpret software requirements and business rules transformation.
• Learn current software systems, tools, and technologies related to the WIC Crossroads project.
• Ability to document system requirements, detailed designs, and program specifications using MS Office Suite.
• Work as a project team member, considered a subject matter expert for a single program/system, and coach junior staff.
• Ability to write Ad Hoc SQL queries using MS SQL Server tools for data research and validation.
• Conduct quality assurance and unit acceptance testing, review and analyze test results.
• Develop or modify software utilities and programs using VB.NET or C#.NET.
• Write complex SQL Server reports for data validation and program use.
• Create, execute, and revise software test plans, procedures, and scenarios.
• Troubleshoot user-reported issues, develop documentation, and report to vendors.
• Understand and document business requirements, review and interpret vendor documentation.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, possess good communication and attention to detail.
• Demonstrate good organization skills and ability to work on deadlines.
• Work independently and collaboratively as a valued team member.

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge and experience with the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program.
• Familiarity with automated defect tracking and testing tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems using Software Quality Assurance processes.
• Proficiency in generating SQL queries, creating SQL Server Reports, and conducting quality assurance and unit testing independently.
