    Purpose Statement
    The job of User Support Specialist was established for the purpose/s of serving as a technical resource to the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware and software on workstations; responding to problems; and training staff on the basic use of networked workstations and software.
    This job reports to District Technology Director

     

    Essential Functions

    • Attends meetings as assigned (e.g. conferences, inservices, workshops, training, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to maintain current knowledge of technological advances and industry trends.
    • Coordinates with other staff for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
    • Installs software applications and various peripheral equipment on computers for the purpose of upgrading and improving efficiency of the District's computers and/or ensuring that configurations meet District standards.
    • Maintains files and/or records (e.g. installation/service records, parts and supplies lists, inventories, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring an up-to-date reference trail.
    • performs routine maintenance (e.g. computer cleaning, back ups, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining computer equipment in a safe and functional operating condition.
    • Responds to inquiries for the purpose of resolving hardware/software related issues and/or providing direction.
    • Serves as network system resource at assigned site for the purpose of communicating any unresolved network or software/hardware problems and/or providing the site with District level 2 support.
    • Supports Weber County School District technology standards (e.g. hardware implementations, policies, procedures, operational methods, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the District's technology objectives are achieved.
    • rains personnel in use of computer network and software applications for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use new and/or existing technology.
    • ransports a variety of items (e.g. equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of providing materials at sites or transporting equipment for repair.
    • Troubleshoots hardware and software problems on workstations for the purpose of meeting the District's technology needs. Other Functions
    • Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

    Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

    • Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
    • Must be able to adhere to safety practices; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and utilizing computer hardware and/or software.
    • Must have knowledge of microcomputers and network operating systems; hardware/software configurations; network cabling; technical terminology; Windows operating systems; and basic industry¬standard networking principles and related equipment.
    • Must be able to communicate with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working with detailed information/data; troubleshooting hardware/software; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with others; and interpersonal skills.

    Experience: Job related experience is required.
    Education: Targeted job related education that meets organization's prerequisite requirements.
