Functions as an internal member of the patient care team to enhance smooth Unit operations through communication and teamwork. Greets, instructs, directs visitors and provides assistance as necessary. Functions as a liaison between visitors, physicians, Surgery department, Surgicare, PACU and in-patient units. Contributes to the efficient patient flow through the perioperative area via phones, pagers, and face-to-face interaction, collaboration and information sharing with physicians, staff and visitors. Provides clerical support including building of patient charts. Provides feedback regarding the family notification process to the perioperative director, nurse managers of surgery, Surgicare, and PACU.

Minimal high school diploma. Previous experience working in a perioperative department preferred. Medical secretarial experience preferred.
