Utilization Management Director leads and directs the utilization review staff and function for a healthcare facility. Determines policies and procedures that incorporate best practices and ensure effective utilization reviews. Being a Utilization Management Director manages and monitors both concurrent reviews to ensure that the patient is getting the right care in a timely and cost-effective way and retrospective reviews after treatment has been completed. Provides analysis and reports of significant utilization trends, patterns, and impacts to resources. Additionally, Utilization Management Director consults with physicians and other professionals to develop improved utilization of effective and appropriate services. Requires a master's degree. Typically reports to top management. Typically requires Registered Nurse(RN). The Utilization Management Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Utilization Management Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     With a general acute-care facility at the core, this Health System affiliated Medical Center provides Emergency Care, Surgical Care, a variety of Medical Clinics, Ancillary Services, and Obstetrics, just to name a few. The Quality Management Director will be responsible for overseeing and directing quality and risk management programs for the entire Health System. The Director of Quality will prepare for survey readiness, design hospital performance improvement measures, educate incoming staff on quality assurance guidelines, and utilize hospital resources to achieve and maintain optimal standards of patient care.

     The Quality Management Director will work closely with the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Executive Officer to ensure that quality assurance goals are met, and will continually collaborate with hospital leadership to devise quality improvement plans. The Director of Quality Management will have the wonderful opportunity to provide their hands-on leadership skills to establish and maintain delivery of high quality patient care. 

    Requirements for the Director Quality Management role include:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field
    • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) Certification
    • 3 years of progressive clinical leadership experience
    • 3 years of experience in hospital quality, performance improvement, regulatory compliance, and/or survey preparedness
