Van Driver operates company vans or small buses. Loads and unloads passengers between various destinations. Being a Van Driver provides and collects appropriate documentation for passenger transportation. Ensures pick-up and drop-off are on time. Additionally, Van Driver may keep logs of vehicle maintenance. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a Valid Driver's License. May Require Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class B. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Van Driver works under moderate supervision. The Van Driver works within the Call A Ride (CARS) program under the direction of the Director and Assistant Director. The Van Driver drives and is responsible for providing door to door service for consumers between their home and any requested destination. They are responsible for assisting both ambulatory and non-ambulatory consumers. This is a part time position with an expectation of working two to three days a week. A CDL is not required for this position.
Essential Skills
Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and be able to obtain a Pennsylvania Criminal History Clearance, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Background check and any other necessary clearances that may be required.
Essential Duties
1. Operate all vehicles safely and in accordance with appropriate Federal, State and Motor Vehicle Guidelines.
2. Assist all clients both ambulatory and non-ambulatory on and off vehicles, from door of pick-up to the door of destination, along with carrying light packages.
3. Collect and distribute all M-J Regional Services/CARS consumers’ information both in written and oral form.
4. Perform light cleaning tasks on vehicles and associated transit equipment.
5. Accurately document all transit services provided for each and every consumer assigned; regardless of trip type, destination, vehicle used or consumer served.
6. Follow M-J Regional Services and CARS Policies and Procedures.
7. Maintain level of confidentiality and courtesy that is expected with each consumer and staff person.
8. Attend and successfully complete training programs as assigned.
9. Attend agency staff meetings and trainings as required.
10. Other duties as required.
