To drive Department on Aging owned wheelchair van, providing non-emergency medical transportation for older adults and other duties as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work is performed under the supervision of the Volunteer Transportation Coordinator and the Department Director.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: An employee in this class may be called upon to do any or all of the following: (These examples do not include all of the tasks which an employee may be expected to perform).

• Loading and unloading of wheelchair bound individuals into the van
• Proper securement of wheelchairs in the van
• Transporting wheelchair bound clients to non-emergency medical appointments
• Completing daily records of all transports
• Maintaining cleanliness of van
• Informing supervisor of any maintenance required

DESIRABLE EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and/or QUALIFICATIONS: An employee in this class, upon appointment, should have the equivalent of the following training and experience.

• A valid Michigan driver's license
• A clean driving record - both driving and criminal background checks will be performed
• Graduation from an accredited high school
• Familiarity of Lenawee County, in particular the City of Adrian
• Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance
• Good communication skills
• Ability to accurately complete paperwork
• Ability to work effectively with others and independently
