Vascular Technician performs ultrasound examinations of the cerebral, peripheral, and abdominal vessels to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disorders affecting circulation. Records and maintains test data and prepares preliminary interpretations of test results. Being a Vascular Technician may perform therapeutic procedures such as pseudoaneurysm compression. Requires an associate degree in medical sonography or equivalent. Additionally, Vascular Technician may require the Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential. Typically reports to a physician or manager. Vascular Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
· Schedule all surgical procedures with multiple hospitals and ensures that all of the appropriate clinical and insurance coding information is collected for the surgery schedule according to established guidelines
· Collect necessary documentation for surgeries
· Books surgeries based on physician volume maintaining appropriate standard turn-around times
· Coordinate with medical staff, surgeons, and operating room personnel to ensure smooth scheduling process
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of surgical procedures and patient information
· Obtain any medical clearances and pre-surgery testing
· Communicates surgery instructions and requirements before and after procedures with patients, answers questions
· Answers phone calls from patients, insurers, and other facilities
· Interacts with patients, physicians, and other staff both within the Clinic and at outside facilities to provide accurate, timely, and responsive information
· Identify scheduling barriers and implement solutions to improve scheduling results
· Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations
