Vascular Technician performs ultrasound examinations of the cerebral, peripheral, and abdominal vessels to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disorders affecting circulation. Records and maintains test data and prepares preliminary interpretations of test results. Being a Vascular Technician may perform therapeutic procedures such as pseudoaneurysm compression. Requires an associate degree in medical sonography or equivalent. Additionally, Vascular Technician may require the Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential. Typically reports to a physician or manager. Vascular Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Job Description:
The Vascular Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasound diagnostic equipment to produce 2 dimensional ultrasonic pattern and positive pictures of arterial and vascular studies for use by professional personnel in diagnosis of disease. Performs duplex vascular scans including 2D, color, and pulsed wave Doppler examinations evaluating arterial and venous structures, including measurement and calculation of percent of stenosis of arteries and presence of deep vein thrombosis, plus ABI and PUR studies.
