Vascular Technician performs ultrasound examinations of the cerebral, peripheral, and abdominal vessels to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disorders affecting circulation. Records and maintains test data and prepares preliminary interpretations of test results. Being a Vascular Technician may perform therapeutic procedures such as pseudoaneurysm compression. Requires an associate degree in medical sonography or equivalent. Additionally, Vascular Technician may require the Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential. Typically reports to a physician or manager. Vascular Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Shift: Days, 5x8, 07:00-19:00 (hours may vary)
Guaranteed Hours: 36
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Required Licensure: RDMS, Vascular Registry - RVT or RVS required
Required Certifications: BLS from AHA only
Preferred Certifications: ACLS from AHA only
Required Experience: 1 year Noninvasive Vascular
Must be willing to float when needed
MUST BE FLU VACCINATED TO BE SUBMITTED - NO EXCEPTIONS
General Comments
The Vascular Sonographer is a skilled person qualified by technological education to provide patient services using diagnostic ultrasound under the supervision of a doctor of medicine responsible for the use and interpretation of ultrasound procedures. Assist the physician by gathering vascular sonographic data necessary to reach diagnostic decisions. Performs related duties as assigned.
Required education: High school diploma or equivalent and one of the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) prerequisites for education and required clinical experience.
Required licensure: Requires a registry or registry eligible status with the ARDMS. Required certifications: Must have a current American Heart Association BLS Heart saver Card
Other: Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: This individual must be capable of walking long distances, transporting ultrasound equipment and assist in lifting patients.
