Overview:
Transdev is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee all activities of the Maintenance department, including the maintenance and repair of buses, other vehicles be responsible for developing, communicating, and enforcing safety policies and procedures at the transit location in compliance with federal, state, local regulations and Transdev policies.
Responsibilities:
- Implements and maintains Transdev Maintenance program in accordance with customer mandates, regulatory requirements, and Transdev standards.

Maintains Quality Assurance program in accordance with customer mandates, regulatory requirements, and Transdev standards.

Schedules employees for the department and ensures the effective supervision of technicians and other shop workers.

Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned personnel.

Coordinates work performed by outside vendors.

Oversees the development of efficient repair schedules and reviews repair cost estimates.

Approves priority of maintenance and repairs based on availability of materials and parts and requirements of scheduled operations.

Monitors productivity and fleet reliability and performance to ensure company and client equipment is maintained and operating efficiently.

Controls and monitors part inventory.

Maintains preventive maintenance schedules to ensure 100% compliance.

Conducts periodic employee meetings to ensure timely distribution of information, to monitor contract performance and areas of concern, and to address client and employee issues.

Prepares all maintenance reports, correspondence, and documents required by the client, regulatory agencies, and/or Transdev.

Keeps maintenance areas safe, clean, and organized.

Ensure use of appropriate safety and personal protection equipment.

Conducts performance appraisals of direct report personnel.

Manages warranty program by tracking claims, invoicing warranty work, and maintaining warranty work records.

Ensures proper part inventory levels are maintained to facilitate appropriate maintenance.

Analyzes road calls and defect reports in a timely manner.

Ensures optimum staffing levels.

Monitors technician’s work performance and productivity to determine training requirements.

Tracks failure trends and repeat problem vehicles.

Ensures timely and proper handling of vehicle defects, part orders, work orders, and preventive maintenance inspection forms.

Manages the input and quality of data entry into the Ron Turley & Associates (RTA) maintenance program to ensure proper tracking and reporting of information.

Maintain fleet in a safe, clean, and reliable manner to fulfill contractual obligations and ensure customer satisfaction.

Ensures all vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and properly working.

Develops and implements safety policies and procedures for the department and maintains a safe working environment.

Participates in the development and administration of the maintenance budget.

Identifies opportunities for improving service delivery methods.

Ensures property, grounds, and facilities are clean and well organized.

Will remain technically competent on current equipment, as well as industry trends, methods, and technologies.
Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required:

Associate degree preferred. Experience may be substituted for degree. Possess Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) automotive/truck certifications (preferably Master Certified) and/or after employment the ability to obtain within an agreed period. Prior experience in transit maintenance preferred.

High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:

Minimum of 5 years journey-level mechanic experience and a strong technical background with gasoline engines, electrical and hydraulic systems and be proficient with maintenance software applications preferred

Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance supervision of technicians and demonstrate strong managerial and training qualities preferred.

Able to obtain within 6 months of employment or legally licensed to operate a commercial vehicle in the State of Michigan and must possess a valid Class C license with a Passenger [“P”] endorsement as well as maintain a valid medical certificate and any other licenses or certificates required by applicable federal, state, or local regulations.

Good written and oral communication skills.

Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy, medium, and light duty transportation vehicles.

Familiarity with laws/regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities.

Ability to read, interpret, and apply documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and other mechanical and/or electrical diagrams.

Ability to read and write routine reports, forms, and other documentation or correspondence.

Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Ability to organize and perform work efficiently with strong attention to details.

Travel requirement will be less than 5% for occasional meetings.
