Vehicle Maintenance Manager assists with the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Assigns vehicles and drivers, prepares schedules, and oversees dispatch operations. Being a Vehicle Maintenance Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Vehicle Maintenance Manager develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. May administer insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participate in claim resolution. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Vehicle Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Vehicle Maintenance Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work safely following all company safety policies, practices, procedures and improvement initiatives
Comply with all regulatory compliance requirements including safety, environmental, and food/feed safety
Operate bobcats, forklifts, farm tractors, bucket trucks, boom trucks, and Simons lifts
Operate welders, acetylene torches, and air plasma cutters
Operate, maintain and use other equipment and tools required for assigned fabrication and maintenance duties
Maintain and service or assist in maintaining and servicing of all off road vehicles, trailers, tractors and trucks, and associated equipment in all departments of the complex
Troubleshoot equipment
Accurately and legibly record and maintain records
Assist plant maintenance personnel, as needed
General housekeeping duties, including painting and / or scrubbing with detergent solutions
Situations may arise that require employees to temporarily or permanently assume responsibility for tasks not specifically outlined in this job description. Employees may be requested to work additional hours and/or accommodate a heavier than normal workload.
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), preferred
Ability to distinguish colors (i.e., wire codes)
Accurately read and understand signs, labels, warnings, directions, operator manuals, service manuals and wiring schematics associated with the maintenance and/or operation of instruments and equipment
Accurately perform basic mathematical skills
Occasionally push and/or pull heavy objects (approx. 200 lbs. max)
Occasionally lift up to 100 lbs. from floor to waist level
Frequently climb stairs and/or ladders (up to 40 ft.)
Accurately follow written and/or verbal instructions
Ability to work day/night shift rotations, weekends, holidays, or extended hours, as needed
