Vendor Quality Control Analyst jobs in Burlington, VT

Vendor Quality Control Analyst evaluates vendor operations, products, and services for compliance with government and company quality standards. Conducts audits and testing of products, materials, and processes to measure effectiveness and compliance with company expectations. Being a Vendor Quality Control Analyst analyzes and monitors metrics and KPIs to suggest improvement initiatives. Works with vendors and identifies alternative vendors to mitigate risks and resolve problems. Additionally, Vendor Quality Control Analyst assists with drafting and negotiating service-level agreements to ensure performance/quality metrics, responsibilities, expectations, and penalties are adequately defined. Prepares reports and updates on vendor status and quality. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Vendor Quality Control Analyst occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Barrett Paving Materials Inc. is looking to fill a FT seasonal position in our Norwood Lab. The Quality Control Technician is responsible for the testing of hot mix asphalt and aggregates to ensure adherence to federal, state, and/or customer specifications. This position works closely with asphalt plant personnel, construction foreman and governmental agencies.

    Hourly Pay Range


    $21.00 - $22.00

    Quality Control Technician Main Responsibilities

    • Perform sampling and various lab tests on hot mix asphalt; such as volumetric measurements and asphalt content
    • Perform sampling and testing of stock aggregates; including gradation, gravity absorption and crush counts
    • Complete governmental and customer reports on test results
    • Communicate results of testing to asphalt plant, construction personnel, governmental agencies and customers as needed
    • Investigate customer complaints regarding discrepancies between test results and asphalt received
    • Other duties as assigned

    Quality Control Technician Skills

    • Knowledge of hot mix asphalt quality control data
    • Experience with various hot mix asphalt and aggregate lab equipment; such as gyratory, sieves, TMD apparatus and ignition furnace
    • Ability to work with large volumes of numerical data
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel applications

    Quality Control Technician Physical Requirements

    • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
    • Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance

    • Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects

    • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. talk and hear

    • Regularly required to climb on and off equipment and walk across uneven terrain

    • Regularly required to work from a seated or standing position operating equipment for long periods

    • Frequent exposure to loud noise, moving parts and vibration

    • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles

    • Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals

    Quality Control Technician Education

    • 1-2 years’ experience with hot mix asphalt quality control preferred
    • NYSDOT Quality Control/Quality Assurance Certification preferred
    • High school diploma or equivalent
