      The Venture Academy (Subject Area) Teacher supports students in activities designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth in the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.

      Responsibilities:
      • Teach district approved curriculum utilizing Edgenuity online coursework.
      • Ability to support students with all core and elective coursework.
      • Create and support a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the student.
      • Work collectively with all Venture Academy staff through the school improvement process to develop policy and best practices to meet the needs of online learners.
      • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
      • Develop instructional material and provide individualized and small group instruction in support of the Edgenuity online curriculum and to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
      • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of academic goals and monitor progress towards meeting district graduation requirements.
      • Evaluate pupil’s academic and social growth through individualized, daily goal setting with continued monitoring throughout the day.
      • Communicate frequently with parents regarding academic, behavioral and social/emotional progress of student.
      • Conduct student/parent conferences, as needed, in addition to contractual conference schedule.
      • Diagnose the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialist as required.
      • Maintain accurate, timely and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
      • Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
      Qualifications:
      • Current Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate subject endorsement is required. Math Endorsement is preferred.
      • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general technical procedures and government regulations. Adhere to all local, state and national guidelines.
      • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
      • Must demonstrate team building skills and the ability to work with students, faculty and staff, and other leaders in the district.
      • Skill in oral and written communication.
      • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
      • Must have the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and work independently.
