Administers injections, performs venipunctures, applies wound dressings, cleans teeth, and takes vital signs of animal. Being a Veterinary Assistant requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. May be required to be certified/licensed. Additionally, Veterinary Assistant is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision of a veterinarian.     About the role:
    We are seeking multiple full-time or part-time Veterinary Assistants to support the urgent care team at our local hospital. The incoming team will never work an overnight shift. Our ideal candidate is an experienced Veterinary Assistant with the ability to draw blood, place IV catheters, run lab work, administer medication, safely restrain patients, and more.
    Job Responsibilities:
    • Perform patient triage.
    • Provide restraint to assist with patient exams and care.
    • Collect blood samples via phlebotomy, place IV catheters, and provide care for patients in the hospital.
    • Observe patients, recognize changes in status, and communicate any changes to the DVM(s) in a timely fashion.
    • Obtain and appropriately record patients’ vital signs.
    • Perform medical treatments as directed by DVM.
    • Check in clients, review estimates for care, and properly relay discharge instructions upon patient check-out.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Skills and Qualifications:
    • 2-3 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician Assistant
    • Experience in an urgent care or emergency setting is preferred but not required
    • Time management and multi-tasking skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Collaborative and adaptable attitude
