Duties:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing medical care to animals
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
- Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas for procedures
- Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Perform laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis
- Monitor animals before, during, and after procedures
- Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery progress
- Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and procedures
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration
Skills:
- Equine or cattle experience is a bonus
- Strong animal handling skills with the ability to safely restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Knowledge of animal care practices, including feeding, grooming, and exercise
- Understanding of animal husbandry principles for maintaining animal health and well-being
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with pet owners in a professional and compassionate manner
