Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This is a temporary position for the summer months of 2024. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will provide support to our veterinarian and veterinary technician in delivering high-quality care to our animal patients. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about animal care and veterinary medicine.

Duties:

- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in examinations, treatments, and procedures

- Provide animal restraint during procedures and examinations

- Administer medications as directed by veterinarians

- Clean and sanitize equipment and facilities

- Collect and prepare laboratory samples for testing

- Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic imaging procedures

- Maintain accurate records of patient information and treatments

- Provide compassionate care to animals and their owners

Skills:

- Strong knowledge of animal care practices and procedures

- Proficient in animal restraint techniques

- Understanding of animal physiology and behavior

- Ability to handle dogs of all sizes confidently and safely

- Knowledge of basic dog training techniques is beneficial

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework preferred)

- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is desirable but not required

- Excellent communication skills

- Strong attention to detail

- Compassionate nature with a genuine love for animals
