Prepares visitors reports and technical papers to suggest enhanced innovative learning environments for museum. Being a Visitor Research Analyst - Museum requires a master's degree of social science or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or a manager. Data Research Analyst
  • City of Indianapolis and Marion County

  • Position is responsible for creation of queries, reports and analyses pulled from the agency's massive database of property tax assessment information as requested by the Assessment Division and Director of Data Analysis. Analysis includes, but is not limited to, application of statistical methods commonly found in the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) standards. In addition, the Data Research Analyst will be responsible for performing research to resolve errors and properly adjust business data entities and related ownership information within the database.Creates queries, reports and analyses pulled from agency database of property tax assessment information.
    Designs and maintains databases to collect auxiliary assessment data such as income and expense data.
    Creates datasets to be submitted to the State and ensures their compliance with the formatting rules and directives of the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF).
    Provides data and economic analysis for agency employees.
    Performs manual and systematic processes to resolve customer data errors.
    Analyzes data for quality issues and develops action plans to correct.
    Performs record updates and regular data clean-ups manually and systematically as required to ensure data consistency.

    This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities that the Marion County Assessor may deem necessary from time to time.Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of three (3) years prior data analysis related work experience in required. One (1) year of prior related work experience may be substituted for each year of required education. Applicants must be certified by the DLFG as a Level II Assessor/Appraiser or be willing to earn that certification within six months of hiring. Effective project management, statistical, computer, and communication skills are required. Applicants must be competent in using the statistical and mathematical tools used in mass appraisal and have extensive knowledge of assessment and appraisal theories, practices and procedures. In-depth knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, imaging systems, and other software is required. Applicants must have the ability to assist customers in a professional and courteous manner, whether face-to-face, email, or over the telephone. This position requires attention to detail and candidates must be able to type, create and edit reports, and spreadsheets as needed, and communicate effectively, both orally and written. All activities must comply with state law and in accordance with professional assessing standards.This position requires the knowledge of established laws and IAAO standards, which control most of the action in this position and include many opportunities for subjective and discretionary choices that will have an effect on the fair distribution of the property tax burden. This will require substantial decision-making latitude and authority. Independent professional judgment, subject to the approval of the County Assessor and Director of Data Analysis, is regularly expected in this position.
