    Department: Institutional Effectiveness Job Status: Full-Time

    Reports To: President Work Schedule: 7:30 am – 4:30 pm
    (Monday – Friday)

    Description of Position:
    The Operations Research Analyst will play a key role in data and research activities. The Operations Research Analyst will support the missions of Little Priest Tribal College (LPTC).

    Qualifications and Education:
    Master’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering or related is required.
    Possess strong math and composition skills
    Computer literacy required; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    Formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision-making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions
    Collect and analyze data and develop decision-support software, services, or products
    Develop and supply optimal time, cost, or logistics networks for program evaluation, review, or implementation
    Development, management, and administration of data and research activities. Information needs and developing information collection processes; collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data; reporting research findings, data, and information requested or needed; serving as a steward of data and information; supporting College strategic planning and compliance by researching and collecting data, evaluating, completing necessary reports, and presenting findings as directed
    Advanced mathematical and analytical methods to help our college solve problems and make better decisions. Identify and solve problems in areas such as business, logistics, and academics
    Collect and organize information from a variety of sources, such as computer databases, academic histories, and student and staff feedback
    Gather input from workers and students involved in all aspects of a problem or from others who have specialized knowledge to help solve the problem

    Examine information to figure out what is relevant to a problem and what methods might be used to analyze it
    Use statistical analysis, simulations, predictive modeling, or other methods to analyze information and develop solutions to academic and business problems
    Advise managers and other decision-makers on the effects of various courses of action to take in order to address a problem
    Write memos, reports, and other documents explaining her findings and recommendations for managers, executives, and other officials
    Extraction of data from institutional databases and information systems to meet the needs of the University for data-informed decision making
    Extract data by working with a variety of data sources, including but not limited to enrollment records, course outcomes, demographics, persistence, retention, course load, budget, tuition, financial aid, and transfer data
    Planning, preparing, and producing a variety of regular and ad-hoc queries, reports to meet external reporting requirements, such as IPEDS (Inter Post-Secondary Data System, US Department of Education), BIE (Bureau of Indian Education), AIHEC-AIMS (American Indian Higher Education Consortium), HLC (Higher Learning Commission) accrediting agencies, state reporting, etc.; and internal information needs
    Analyst uses and implements a variety of software products and data visualization tools to provide information in a logical and contextual manner for enhanced understanding. The Analyst also will draft reports summarizing findings.
    Write concise analytical reports which are directed to the specific readership required; proficient in quantitative and qualitative research design and analysis
    Regular data extraction, manipulation, analysis, visualization, and interpretation of results using programming (Tableau, MSSQL, Python, R) and statistical tools (SPSS, Excel)
    Use of data science technologies and tools, statistical modeling and statistical graphics, open-source data management software, data conversion, data analysis, data management, metadata, and data visualization
    Involved in all aspects of an organization. Help managers decide how to allocate resources, develop course schedules, manage student demands, and set budgets
    Identify and understand the problem to be solved or the processes to be improved. Collect relevant data from the field and interview staff and students or managers involved in the processes being examined. Show the implications of pursuing different actions and may assist in achieving a consensus on how to proceed
    Use sophisticated computer software, such as databases and statistical packages, to analyze and solve problems. Use statistical software to simulate current and future events and evaluate alternative courses of action. Break down problems into their various parts and analyze the effect that different changes and circumstances would have on each of these parts
    Weigh the costs and benefits of alternative solutions or approaches in recommendations to managers

    Skills:
    Possess strong math (college algebra) and composition skills
    Ability to balance working independently and as a team member
    Ability to follow assignments and projects from inception to completion
    Attention to detail
    Effective verbal and listening skills
    Good interpersonal skills
    Ability to maintain strict student confidentiality due to FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
    Possess a strong desire to assist students with knowledge regarding the HoChunk culture
    Ability to work with Native American students and underserved communities
