Visitor Research Analyst - Museum evaluates and researches visitor experiences, learning, exhibition, program etc. Utilizes findings to inform appropriate exhibit and improve museum program development. Prepares visitors reports and technical papers to suggest enhanced innovative learning environments for museum. Being a Visitor Research Analyst - Museum requires a master's degree of social science or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or a manager. The Visitor Research Analyst - Museum gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     SUMMARY: Welcomes and assists visitor entry to Museum and Store by performing the following duties: 


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:


    Welcomes visitor individuals, families, and groups to Museum. Provides information about Museum admission fees. Uses cash register and Museum procedures and forms to keep accurate records of cash transactions.


    Provides information regarding Museum programs and location of exhibits, services, and offices. Stays familiar with current activities and programs through Museum newsletter and staff meetings.


    Provides information concerning membership services, assists visitors in membership purchase, and assists members in entering efficiently. Uses network software to verify membership information. Keeps accurate records of numbers of members visiting.


    Cooperates with others working in admissions/information area to keep entry to Museum orderly and visually appealing.  


    Calls employees to information/admissions counter to answer inquiries or to announce business visitors. Serves as back-up to office staff for telephone coverage.


    Stocks shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise.


    Sets up advertising displays or arranges merchandise on counters or tables to promote sales. 


    Stamps, marks, or tags price on merchandise.


    Obtains merchandise requested by customer or receives merchandise selected by customer. 


    Answers customer's questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise.


    Totals price and tax on merchandise purchased by customer to determine bill. 


    Accepts payment and makes change. Wraps or bags merchandise for customers. 


    Cleans shelves, counters, or tables.


    Removes and records amount of cash in register at end of shift.


    Calculates sales discount to determine price.


    Keeps record of sales, prepares inventory of stock, and orders merchandise.


    Requirements

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 


    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and to write correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of visitors or employees of Museum.


    MATHMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


    CERTIFICATED, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    Valid Florida Driver’s License and Safe Driving Record.


    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Ability to use multi-line telephone, two-way radios, electronic credit/debit card system, network computer, and cash register.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. 


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. 


    The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.


    WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. 


    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee frequently works in crowded or congested conditions requiring him/her to interact with others.
