Visitor Experience Department Overview-
Our Visitor Experience Department oversees the many different aspects of guest engagement in service to a diverse visiting public at our two museums- Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. The team consists of Visitor Services, Gallery Experience, Interpretative Services, and Exhibit Design. These are frontline teams that ensure that every aspect of the experience a guest has while visiting us is one that is of excellent customer service, informative, respectful, and enjoyable. From the moment a guest purchases a ticket, travels through our gallery spaces and out into our living history sites, our staff take great care to ensure that they have a space for learning, curiosity and understanding.
Job Duties
This position will support the administrative responsibilities and needs of the department through direct support and assistance to the Visitor Experience Manager and Interpretative Services. Duties will include but are not limited to- drafting professional correspondence between internal and external partners and stakeholders, helping to proofread, edit and prepare materials and presentations for training and informational meetings, assist with weekly reports, managing meeting schedules and room set ups, working collaboratively with administrative assistants across the larger Museum Operations and Education department to ensure continuity and broader staff and program support. In addition, this position helps support functions related to staff scheduling, processing payroll for the department, purchasing and budget reconciliation. Our administrative assistants often serve as the first point of contact for staff and others, and should be prepared to answer questions, provide assistance and direction through excellent customer service.
