First Baptist Church has served the Hillsville community for 92 years since its opening in 1932. The church is located near the Blue Ridge Parkway in a small community with a beautiful country setting. We are a member of the Southern Baptist Convention with a congregation that seeks growth within all age groups.

We are taking applications to hire a dynamic leader to fill the role of Lead Pastor. The successful candidate will have experience in leading a church in worship service as well as providing leadership and guidance to our missions and outreach functions. This is a great opportunity to lead a well-established church whose members are unified in faith and are committed to spreading the message of hope as described in scripture.

Position title: Lead Pastor

Employment status: Bi-vocational 20 hours per week

Reports to: Deacons and Trustees

Compensation: $23,000 to $30,000 depending on experience.

Position objective:

To provide both pastoral and functional leadership of First Baptist Church of Hillsville (FBCH) that will ensure spiritual growth within the congregation while also growing the congregation through effective outreach initiatives.

Position Description:

A Bi-Vocational Pastor with experience in leading a church through servitude to the truth as found in scripture. Will create and conduct the Sunday worship service as well as lead Bible study during our Wednesday Family Night.

Pastor Requirements and Qualifications:

· A bachelor's degree in a related field or commensurate experience.

· Ordination required.

· Lead Pastor experience preferred.

· Meets the biblical requirements as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

· Strong oral communication abilities.

Pastoral Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provide spiritual guidance to congregants.

· Draft and deliver sermons.

· Develop programs to encourage spiritual growth.

• Serve as a church leader, positively and consistently representing our faith.
• Oversee prayer and Bible groups.
• Visit members who are shut-in and hospitalized.
• Willing to perform weddings and funerals of members who are in good standing and follow pastoral council.
• Support the church’s youth ministry.
