Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor provides vocational rehabilitation services to disabled individuals in order to facilitate their employment and/or reemployment. Evaluates patients' interests, qualifications, and limitations to develop appropriate employment objectives for them. Being a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor requires a bachelor's/master's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. Rehabilitation Counselors play a vital role in our residential program, providing direct care instruction to our students and ensuring their growth and independence. They collaborate with specialists and coordinators to develop individualized curriculum to enhance skills such as communication and social skills, and activities of daily living (i.e. cooking, showering, self-care). Rehabilitation Counselors are also trained in verbal and physical de-escalation of challenging behaviors (CALM training), allowing our students to effectively communicate their needs, improve their problem-solving skills, and maintain their well-being.
