Voice Communications Manager is responsible for managing the policies and procedures of voice communications. Ensures uninterrupted access to all voice telecommunication features including voicemail, ACD or PBX systems. Being a Voice Communications Manager oversees the design and implementation of voice telecommunications networks. Selects vendors and negotiates contracts. Additionally, Voice Communications Manager reviews reports on system specifications in support of system upgrades and makes final decision regarding updates. Involved in long-range or strategic voice communications plans. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a top management. The Voice Communications Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Voice Communications Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     About the role

    As the Y’s Communications Manager, you’ll manage communication channels and content, conduct interviews, write and edit copy, and support a variety of communication needs from across the organization. You’ll also supervise the Marketing Specialist and work closely with the Marketing and Communications Director to plan and manage project workflow.


     

    What you’ll do

    • Collaborate with internal teams and partner agencies to identify, gather, write, and produce compelling content that represents the YMCA brand, increases awareness and engagement, and positions the Y as a leading community nonprofit. This content includes but is not limited to the annual report, social media posts, video reels and stories, graphics, fundraising materials, newsletters, marketing emails, blogs, website copy, advertisements, media advisories, press releases, and video scripts.
    • Supervise the Marketing Specialist, working with them to create and maintain long-range content and publicity calendars
    • Communicate proactively with media outlets, journalists, and partners
    • Analyze a variety of data points to determine the effectiveness of and make recommendations on the direction of marketing campaigns
    • Model inclusive behaviors and ensure that all dimensions of diversity are represented in content produced
    • Adhere to YMCA brand standards for voice, text, and imagery; follow and model editorial standards and best practices; help train staff on communication practices and skills
    • Assist as needed with YMCA functions and special events
    • Other duties as assigned

       

    Qualifications, skills, and abilities

    • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field and/or at least five years of professional experience in one of these fields
    • Supervisory experience
    • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software, including Microsoft Office Suite
    • High degree of proficiency with email marketing systems, website administration, and social media platforms and management tools
    • Exceptional communication abilities, including writing, speaking, and active listening
    • In-depth knowledge of best writing and messaging practices for public relations, email marketing, web, and social media
    • Ability to effectively engage with team members of all levels and across departments, as well as members of the public and media
    • Excellent organizational and project management skills, including time management, goal-setting, multitasking, attention to detail, and prioritization
    • Adaptable to a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and tenacious about completing projects on deadline
    • Strong data analysis, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
    • Aptitude to own and manage projects, demonstrate creativity, and put ideas into action
    • Leadership abilities, including supervision, training, and mentorship
