JOB SUMMARY:

VOICE offers community education classes that help further our non-profit mission, inspiring students to continue learning and igniting a passion for a more just, inclusive world. Classes may raise awareness of relevant issues, provide community members memorable first-hand experiences, and introduce participants to new perspectives. Students do not receive grades.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Engage students in a dynamic and effective learning environment
• Develop a syllabus for each course the instructor is scheduled to teach
• Design learning objectives and lesson plans consistent with the mission- related purpose of the course(s)
• With supervisor, identify key learning outcomes, develop assessment tools, and conduct assessments to facilitate future course improvement and measure the positive impact the course is having in the community

SCHEDULE:

Class(es) will be scheduled for a weekly time and duration that fits Instructor’s availability and maximizes potential enrollment. Course(s) may be canceled without pay if minimum enrollment is not reached by 1 week in advance of course start date. Employment ends when no courses are anticipated to be scheduled.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Native or native-like proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL). A degree in ASL education or education-related field, and at least 1 year experience teaching in a classroom setting.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have reliable transportation to travel to and from VOICE office. Must not have a criminal record which includes a misdemeanor or felony conviction for fraud, theft, embezzlement, financial malfeasance of any kind, criminal sexual conduct, abuse, or neglect. Must pass a physical, drug screen, and background check.
