Volunteer Coordinator - Hospice jobs in El Paso, TX

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general direction, implements and manages volunteer services programs with the community, employees, and volunteers. Maintains program development, training and communication to meet and enhance the goals of the programs.

• Regular attendance at Employer's place of business and/or during particular hours, as assigned, is an essential function of this position. Employee must comply with and follow YWCA’s attendance policy at all times, unless a reasonable accommodation is requested and granted, as required by law.
• Develops and maintains relationships with local schools, businesses and social organizations to establish an active network of volunteers and community resources.
• Recruits volunteers by speaking to individuals and groups, and by responding to inquiries from the YWCA internet site and YWCA social media. Coordinates special events for recruitment and builds community relations as resources and services for referrals.
• Evaluates volunteer applications, selects and interviews applicants to determine suitability, reviews background checks and makes appropriate recommendations regarding program and/or committee placement.
• Trains and assists volunteers, and maintains regular and frequent personal contact with volunteers; Conducts meetings to provide support and resolve problems on an individual or group basis.
• Recruits, organizes and delegates volunteers for each program and major event where volunteer support is essential.
• Maintains frequent communications with supervisors who utilize volunteers, resolving issues as appropriate. Manages the volunteer database and maintains all records to include monthly reports and records of all volunteer activity.
• Coordinates special events for volunteers including recognition and appreciation ceremonies, works with Special Event Manager for Volunteer Apperception week and recognition.
• Attends and represents the YWCA at volunteer fairs, job fairs and other events. Provides presentations when needed to promote the YWCA volunteer services program.
• Develops and maintains internship program.
• Participates when needed of the YWCA new employee orientation and fosters employee engagement. Assists in leading individuals the orientation experience to ensure newly hired employees understand the culture and mission of the organization.
• Assist Human Resources in filling, pre-employment and other duties as needed

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, skills or training is required.
• Minimum three (3) years related experience coordinating volunteer services programs and/or events, with supervisory experience preferred.
• Must be flexible and able to work extended hours, occasional week-ends, or evenings as needed.
• Must be well organized and be able to handle multiple priorities.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills required, with ability to interact at all levels.
• Must have excellent written communication skills with ability to compose professional letters and other correspondence.
• Must be able to work under pressure with interruptions.
• Must be able to work independently and autonomously.
• Must be able to make sound judgments, have excellent decision making skills, and possess strong conflict resolution skills.
• Must have personal computer experience and have knowledge of MS Office software.
• Must have access to vehicle and possess valid driver's license and sufficient liability insurance and be able to make frequent trips within the city.

Job Type: Full-time
