Motivates and inspires volunteers to encourage teamwork. Additionally, Volunteer Coordinator - Hospice ensures that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the organization. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Volunteer Coordinator - Hospice work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. - Participate in the development of an individualized plan of care to meet spiritual needs
- Serve as a liaison to community chaplains and spiritual counselors
- Maintain records and documentation of services provided
- Attend patient care conference and interdisciplinary group meetings
- Provide funeral or memorial services for patients as requested
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal legal and regulatory requirements
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
- Graduate of an accredited theology or chaplaincy program (BD, MDiv or equivalent theological degree)
- Experience working with death and dying, hospice experience preferred
- Comfort in an interfaith setting
- Ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs and values
- Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy of care
