Volunteer Coordinator - Hospice implements the daily undertakings of a volunteer program to attract, inspire, train, and deploy volunteers. Coordinates the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of volunteer workers. Being a Volunteer Coordinator - Hospice assists with the training and scheduling of volunteer workers and provides immediate support and guidance on issues or questions. Motivates and inspires volunteers to encourage teamwork. Additionally, Volunteer Coordinator - Hospice ensures that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the organization. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Volunteer Coordinator - Hospice work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.

    What will you do?

    The volunteer services coordinator helps recruit, train, schedule and recognize volunteers while growing the volunteer base and advancing individual and group partnerships. Market within the community to recruit new volunteers. Develop new events and opportunities for volunteers to engage with the mission of Habitat for Humanity.

    • Typically serve Tuesday - Saturday to support work on the build site.
    • Recruit and schedule volunteers for construction, office, ReStore, deconstruction, family services and special events opportunities.
    • Assist with all aspects of volunteer management including orientations, maintenance of database, volunteer tracking and follow-up.
    • Work with construction staff to ensure successful volunteer build days - signing volunteers in, providing orientation and safety briefings, helping put away tools with volunteers at the end of the day and ordering necessary volunteer supplies.
    • Develop and/or revise volunteer recruitment, management and recognition tools.

    This position will focus on volunteer services aspects of Habitat affiliate operations.

    • Activities and attractions: Rochester has a plethora of activities and attractions. This includes the beautiful Great Lakes, specifically Lake Ontario, as well as the Finger Lakes. On top of that there is the Genesee River and Letchworth State Park. There are tons of awesome museums such as the Rochester Museum and Science Center, the Strong National Museum of Play, National Susan B. Anthony Museum and House, the Genesee Country Village and Museum, and the George Eastman Museum. During the month of May, Rochester has the Lilac Festival.
      Rochester is also home to the House of Guitars which is the World's largest music store. Throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall you can attend concerts at CMAC, ride rollercoasters at Seabreeze, or catch a game at Frontier Field which is home to the Rochester Red Wings.
