Volunteer Coordinator supervises and leads the daily undertakings of a volunteer program to attract, inspire, train, and deploy volunteers. Leads the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of volunteer workers. Being a Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for training and educating volunteers. Motivates and inspires volunteers to encourage teamwork. Additionally, Volunteer Coordinator evaluates and reviews volunteer schedules and makes adjustments as necessary. Ensures that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the organization. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Volunteer Coordinator supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Volunteer Coordinator typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Recruit, interview, screen, onboard and schedule volunteers adhering to internal and national standards.
    • Develop and update training materials as well as facilitate training.
    • Lead, support and supervise volunteers as needed to ensure a positive experience for everybody. 
    • Create compelling volunteer recruitment campaigns, emphasizing the impact volunteers can make and the fulfilling experience they will gain. 
    • Organize volunteer recognition events to aid with volunteer retention.
    • Participate in outreach efforts to encourage community partnerships and recruitment.
    • Maintain the volunteer database (VAN/ EveryAction) to keep accurate records of volunteer profiles, activities, hours etc.
    • Educate PPGP staff about volunteer programs and management and serve as a resource for them.
    • Communicate with volunteers effectively and responsibly as well as be versed in conflict management and resolution.
    • Encourage volunteers to become leaders by utilizing the Path to Power engagement model.
    • Prepare and maintain documents related to volunteer management including but not limited to policies and procedures, role descriptions, handbooks and more.
    • Expand our presence in BIPOC communities and help grow our BIPOC supporter base.
    • Perform all administrative tasks to support PPGP’s volunteer programs; including but not limited to ensuring completion of paperwork and accurate maintenance of volunteer records.
    • Assist in the creation of and maintenance of a volunteer budget and spending.
    • Travel within PPGP’s region to facilitate training and work with volunteers and staff.     
    • Evaluate volunteer performance as needed and report updates to the PAVM.
    • Attend volunteer events and activities as needed.


    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Required Education and Experience 
    • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience in volunteer recruitment and management of teams or projects.  
    • Familiarity with regulations governing the utilization of volunteers in a non-profit environment.
    • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
    • Experienced facilitator in the presence of an audience.
    • Experience working with diverse communities and bringing people together for a common goal/mission.  
    • Preferred Education and Experience
    • 1-3 years of experience in a nonprofit organization
    • Demonstrated flexibility with work requests that appear or change on short notice.
    • A motivated self-starter able to function productively and effectively with a degree of autonomy.

    • Communication – Responds effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints both verbally and in writing.  Ability to write and deliver effective and persuasive speeches or presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret highly complex documents.

    This is a full-time position. Work week is 37.5 hours.


    Salary Range-    $50,000-$55,000
