Summary
Reporting to the Director of Outreach and Satellite Programs, the Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for developing and coordinating volunteer services and programs including but not limited to recruitment, screening, orientation, placement, recognition, and evaluation of volunteers and development and implementation of systems, policies, and procedures. The Volunteer Coordinator will work to enable the organizations growing volunteer programs, demonstrating the agency’s commitment to its mission, its partnerships, and the community.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as primary point of contact for all volunteer/collaboration requests including, telephone, voice mail, email, and written requests and ensure a timely response.
- Work with Human Resources, the VP of Programs, and Director of Outreach and Satellite Programs to develop and maintain a comprehensive recruitment, orientation, training, retention, and recognition plan for individual and group volunteers to ensure that all volunteers are knowledgeable and feel valued. (Supervision of volunteer efforts is delegated to the team in the area where the volunteers are assigned.)
- Serve as a liaison between staff and volunteers.
- Collaborate with program and development leadership in creating and maintaining a comprehensive list of involvement opportunities throughout the organization.
- Develop and maintain collegial relationships with peers in the field and with area volunteer organizations to ensure best practices for our volunteer and collaborative programs.
- Occasionally represent Cornerstone Family Programs and Morristown Neighborhood House at relevant community, council, and committee meetings, career fairs, festivals and school events
- Take part in developing and maintaining strong, positive relationships with collaborative partners ensuring that mutually agreed upon expectations are being met.
- Develop and maintain appropriate collateral materials for recruitment of volunteers.
- Assist with the marketing of the programs to the community and recruitment of the volunteers
- Assist with Hope for the Holidays program, the Thanksgiving turkey distribution program, and all in-kind donations as well as work with community groups on collection drives according to program needs
- Work with Human Resources to develop and maintain complete and accurate records including volunteer policies, procedures, position descriptions, standards of conduct and, where applicable, criminal background checks.
- Develop and provide to management monthly and annual reports on all individual and group volunteer activities to include number of volunteers, number of hours, and in-kind contribution value.
- Conduct agency tours as needed.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent
- One to two years related experience or equivalent
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff and community groups to develop program goals and implement programs
- Demonstrate proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates
- Excellent written and oral skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
- Demonstrated ability to make successful presentations to individuals and/or groups at all levels of an organization
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft
- Demonstrate the ability to plan and organize projects
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
