Volunteer Coordinator supervises and leads the daily undertakings of a volunteer program to attract, inspire, train, and deploy volunteers. Leads the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of volunteer workers. Being a Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for training and educating volunteers. Motivates and inspires volunteers to encourage teamwork. Additionally, Volunteer Coordinator evaluates and reviews volunteer schedules and makes adjustments as necessary. Ensures that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the organization. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Volunteer Coordinator supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions.     Assistant Director of Operations Position

    General Description:

    This person will be a part of the Operations Team and will assist the Executive Director. They will be on a regular shift schedule and will assist with projects/assignments as requested by the Executive Director.

    They will fulfill all Executive Director's responsibilities, with full authority, when the Executive Director is not available.

    General Responsibilities:

    Responsible for supporting the Operations staff in providing excellent patient care and community service.

    Will be responsible for day-to-day issues. Assistant Director of Operations (ADO) may be involved with staffing, supply, scheduling, rig assignment, problem-solving, assisting on calls, call evaluations, patient refusal assistance, reporting, enforcement of rules, and other issues that arise operationally. Will address any problems, questions, concerns, or special needs through the Executive Director when available.

    The ADO will have input on the structure of day-to-day Operations, which are reflected in the Agency’s policies/procedures/standards. The ADO may be responsible for making case-by-case decisions for daily operational issues, that are not clearly defined. The ADO will be responsible for making reports to the Executive Director and/or to the Board of Directors during emergency sessions.

    The Assistant Director of Operations will report directly to the Executive Director.

    The Assistant Director of Operations is responsible for building teamwork and supporting the work of the personnel in daily operations, as well as:

    • Routinely meeting and discussing issues of importance with personnel.
    • Developing positive working relations with all agencies that interact with NSVES.
    • Representing and advocating for the needs of Operations.

    Day To Day;

    • While on shift, may assume the role of the person in charge of the shift. May be directly responsible for the assignments for the shift.
    • ADO will be responsible for the supervisory needs and responsibilities of a shift or shifts, including directing personnel, assignments, filling open schedules as needed, and overseeing crews' duties up to the point of disciplinary action if needed.
    • ADO will be actively involved in policy research and development.
    • Will be the Agency Controlled Substance Officer and oversee the management, storage, transportation, and handling of controlled substances. The Controlled Substance Officer's responsibility is to review all e-PCRs and attachments in which controlled substances were used.
    • The reports will be reviewed for:
    • Completeness of e-PCRs
    • Appropriate care and administration of the Medications.
    • Appropriate documentation
    • ADO will complete the report for the NVSES Medical Director to review. Form DOH-4004 shall be filled out by the Controlled Substance Officer and submitted to the NVSES Medical Director every July and January.
    • Form DOH-4004 shall reflect a full report of use and supply of Morphine, Versed, Fentanyl, and Ketamine.
    • The ADO as the Controlled Substance Officer, must be approved by the NYS Department of Health, Controlled Substances Bureau.
    • Inventory management
    • Oversee the 800s performed by the providers and maintain the re-stock inventory.
    • Provide a biweekly request for order.
    • Be actively involved with the research and ordering of large purchases.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • NYS Paramedic or ability to advance to Paramedic level within one year of start date.
    • Associates Degree or Higher Education preferred.
    • Should have at least five years’ experience with a 911 transporting ambulance service as a medical provider.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient in MS Office applications.

    Desired Skills:

    • ADO requires top-notch mental acuity to handle medical emergencies and manage multiple tasks at once.
    • They need advanced knowledge of EMS practices, medical terminology, EMS equipment, and medical systems.
    • This person must understand and interpret applicable federal, state, and local laws. As an ADO, you must have exceptional leadership and management skills to motivate and guide workers. It would be best if you also had critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical abilities.
    • Previous management/leadership experience preferred.
    • Instructor experience (CPR, CIC, Etc.) preferred.
