    INTRODUCTION:

    The Bishop of Manchester is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular diocese entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

    Each position employed in the Diocesan Administration Building helps to extend the ministry of the Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description. All employees of the diocesan administration assist the Bishop of Manchester in serving the parishes, schools and institutions of the Catholic Church in New Hampshire.


    MISSION STATEMENT AND CATHOLIC IDENTITY:

    Camp Bernadette and Camp Fatima, Inc., as a Catholic ministry contracts with the Diocese of Manchester to hire full-time employees who are centered on Jesus Christ in both the Holy Eucharist and the Gospel. As a Roman Catholic camp, Camp Bernadette and Camp Fatima, Inc. seeks to provide all campers a safe, faith-filled, and loving environment where all feel welcome regardless of their religious upbringing. Therefore, our Catholic faith is central to our camping philosophy and permeates every aspect of daily life. We have weekly Mass, to fulfill our Sunday obligation, and pray every evening during Shrine." We also offer daily Rosary Club, frequent Adoration, the sacrament of Reconciliation, and retreats for older campers throughout the sessions to help campers grow in faith.

    Our Catholic faith is not limited to religious instruction and liturgical celebrations but is a comprehensive way of life. It should animate our attitudes and activities as we strive to create an environment in which our campers' faith, virtue, and character will gradually mature. We acknowledge the vital witness of our volunteers, staff and administrators, as they reveal the Christian message, not only by word, but also by every gesture of their behavior through the day-to- day activities and cabin life at camp.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This position provides leadership and is responsible for supervision, administration, coordination and the ongoing development of all spiritual and professional endeavors of the diocesan camps, taking care to keep the mission at the forefront of all decision and planning processes.

    1. Preserve, promote, and grow the Catholic identity of the camps.
    2. Supervision, administration and coordination of all maintenance, office technical and business endeavors of the camps.
    3. Supervision of office personnel in the winter camp office.
    4. Conduct and oversee an annual performance appraisal of the directors and the various programs held at the facilities.
    5. Work with the directors and full-time staff in developing procedures, routines and practices related to the daily operation of the camps.
    6. Ensure that the directors of the camps maintain American Camps Association standards and operate under New Hampshire Laws and assist them in developing the written work necessary for this.
    7. Develop marketing strategies for the two camps in cooperation with the marketing director and resident directors.
    8. Develop and carry out a Master Plan and Risk Management Plan for the camps and oversee their implementation with the directors.
    9. Develop and supervise all fundraising efforts and as well as capital budgets, integrating them with the mission, strategic plans, and all program budgets.
    10. Attend Board Meetings as an ex-officio member and keep the Board informed of camp activities.
    11. Supervise all capital projects and off-season rentals.




    Requirements

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

    1. A bachelor's degree, plus 4–7 years of related experience in administration and working with children and families.
    2. Deep faith and personal commitment to the life of the Church, and a desire to teach and communicate this with others.
    3. In depth knowledge of the Catholic Church, its mission, structures, and ministerial life, and in particular its teachings and principles on family, youth, and young adults.
    4. Familiarity with the organization of camps and camp programing.
    5. Demonstrated leadership and organizational ability.
    6. Skills and desire for collaboration, together with ability to take initiative and work independently.
    7. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a variety of groups.
    8. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations.
    9. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all members of the organization.
    10. Knowledge and skills to do research, writing, and prepare camp materials and programs; ability to organize, conduct, and evaluate camp programs.
    11. Ability to do long range planning, and project management; resourcefulness and flexibility to achieve planned objectives in a timely manner, and also to respond effectively and creatively to emerging needs, demands, and opportunities.
    12. Ability to handle stress well, and to schedule and complete objectives under various constraints and pressures.
    13. Knowledge, ability and manual dexterity to use diocesan technology effectively.
    14. Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities.
    15. Maintain confidentiality.
    16. Good leadership skills.
    17. Must pass a background check, including a criminal history investigation in accordance with diocesan policy.
    18. Must be eligible to work in the United States.

    ENVIRONMENT:

    1. Private office: clean, well-lit, environmentally comfortable.
    2. Minimal exposure to chemicals, related to copier equipment and general office solvents.
    3. Required to lift, carry, or move up to ten pounds, occasional.
    4. Required to reach at or above shoulder level, occasional. Below shoulder level, frequent.
    5. Required to lift up to approximately 25 pounds to waist high level, whenever necessary.
    6. Hand manipulation of equipment and controls, frequent. Grasping and handling, occasional.
    7. Ability to travel throughout the diocese.
    8. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include nights and weekends.
    9. Ability to tolerate prolonged sitting and/or standing.
    10. Mobility includes regular sitting, some standing, and walking.
