    Job Summary


    This position serves as the administrator and key coordinator and is solely responsible for the planning, development, administration, coordination and supervision of the Volunteer Services Program for MCF-Shakopee. The responsibilities involve handling all matters pertaining to volunteers, including but not limited to; program development and program goals, administration of the recruitment, screening, training and evaluating volunteers; working with the staff and volunteers to maintain programs and accurate records of volunteer involvement, and to assist in creating new volunteer programs as needed. This position also provides executive, technical and administrative support to the Associate Warden of Operations, Corrections Captain and Corrections Lieutenants (Watch Commanders) as designated by the Associate Warden of Operations (AWO).

    Minimum Qualifications

    The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position:

    • Experience in planning, developing, organizing, tasking, administering and evaluating a volunteer program.
    • Knowledge of methods used in developing a coordinated program of volunteer services.
    • Principles and procedures used in the development and utilization of community resources.
    • Ability to plan and administer a program of recruitment, screening, placement, and training of volunteer workers.
    • Ability to speak and write effectively, including public speaking and facilitating discussions.

    Preferred Qualifications

    The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:

    • Experience working with offenders.
    • Experience working with public and community groups.
    • Organizational skills sufficient to multi task and perform responsibilities in various stages of completion.
    • Communication and human relation skills to ensure successful training and mentoring of volunteer staff.
    • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of data and information.

    Physical Requirements

    The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components may consist of a tuberculosis screening, commercial drivers license (CDL) drug test, and/or respirator clearance. The selected finalist may also be required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position.     Additional Requirements

    The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

    Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.

    New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
