    Position Summary
    This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

    Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Volunteer Engagement, the Assistant Director of Volunteer Engagement helps support the goals of the University through University Development’s outreach and involvement with alumni and friends in North Carolina and across the country. Other objectives of this position include generating a broader understanding of the important contributions the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill makes throughout the world, and especially in North Carolina, through the active involvement and support of alumni and friends.

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
    Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with related experience. For positions with responsibility for direct solicitation of gifts and funds, a minimum of 1 year of professional-level, direct solicitation/fundraising experience is required.

    Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
    Must be self-motivated, proactive, creative, and extremely organized with great attention to detail and able to multitask and prioritize a great number of tasks/projects each day often in a fast-paced environment interacting with a wide range of people. This individual must have excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills. This individual must be able to work relatively independently on many projects. This position demands excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, administrative skills, and willingness to stay on top of the latest upgrades. Must have a valid driver’s license. Ability to travel and work some evenings and weekends.

    Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
    Knowledge of the University and its physical campus. Experience working in a higher education institution or non-profit.
