Kern Steel Fabrication has provided quality steel construction products for over 50 years. We're looking for engineering and project management experience and expertise to support our dynamic, fast-paced team in one of our top divisions, catering to a unique industry - Aerospace.
The Engineering Project Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless execution of projects from design inception to final product delivery. Reporting to the Director of Engineered Products, this position will be responsible for assisting in the entire project life cycle, with a specific focus on project coordination and financial management.

Essential Job Specific Duties:
- Develops and maintains project schedules, ensuring milestones are achieved within specified timelines.
- Collaborates with the engineering, detailing, electrical, mechanical, and fabrication teams to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provides information to facilitate design process, ensuring client specifications are accurately translated into actionable project plans.
- Receives, verifies, uploads, and releases fabrication drawings, data files, and other information to production team according to project schedule.
- Coordinates purchasing of raw materials and manufactured items to ensure all required parts are ready and available for fabrication and assembly according to project schedule.
- Assists in creation of estimates and change order proposals by analyzing scope changes for cost impacts.
- Facilitates effective teamwork of a small, highly specialized fabrication and manufacturing crew.
- Monitors manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to quality standards and project specifications.
- Assists in utilizing ERP system to manage and update financial information related to project costs, budgets, and expenditures.
- Assists in ensuring accurate tracking of project financials and steers alignment to overall project profitability goals.
- Identifies and resolves potential delays or bottlenecks to keep projects on track.
- Identifies and facilitates value engineering opportunities and product improvement efforts.
- Maintains responsibility for quality control measures to guarantee the production of high-quality engineered products, according to our ISO9001 standards.
- Verifies compliance with industry standards and client requirements on a per project basis on final products.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and standards.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, knowledge of constructability methods, and mechanically inclined
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in project management tools and software.
- Ability to read and interpret design drawings and specifications.
- Ability to follow scientific methods and innovate.
- General manufacturing knowledge required, structural steel or knowledge a plus.
- Able to provide an extremely detail-oriented approach to work.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, aerospace, or electrical).
- 15 years of experience in engineering design is acceptable in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Proven experience in project coordination within the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
- Experience using MRP and ERP systems for financial tracking and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
