    Special Information


    • This position is an on-site position which requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at the Flagstaff Mountain campus with or without accommodation. Possibility to work some scheduled remote days following 90-day introductory period.
    • This position is posted as Curriculum Process Associate, which is a working title. The NAU system title for this position is Curriculum Design & Academic Assessment Coordinator, Intermediate.

    Job Description


    This role is responsible for the implementation of undergraduate and graduate curriculum proposals into the curriculum processing software portal. The person in this role is responsible for working with faculty to accurately complete and submit curriculum proposals for substantive changes to courses and majors/programs and integrate exceptions into the process to allow flexibility, where possible. This position requires regular interaction with university faculty, staff and administrators to clarify needs and resolve concerns related to academic catalog and associated policy functions.

    Curriculum Processing - 60%

    • In close collaboration with faculty, assists with completing the appropriate curriculum forms.
    • In curriculum processing software portal, builds curriculum proposals for courses and program/majors and supporting requisite structures, also including plan-campus, plan ownership, etc. Ensures accuracy and functionality of setup.
    • Advises faculty on curriculum process and university curriculum policy.
    • Obtains direction from leadership when requests extend beyond existing policies, standards and procedures.
    • Collaborates with curriculum leadership on complex curricular issues. Suggests appropriate plan of action to move forward with proposal.
    • Through requisite building, identifies and notifies impacted business units of course and program/major changes; obtains acknowledgements and approvals from impacted units.
    • Monitors approvals of materials through curriculum routing workflow, provides notifications when special intervention is required; trouble-shoots and resolves issues as needed.
    • Compiles, synthesizes, loads and distributes committee comments to submitters; ensures comments are addressed before curriculum committee votes.
    • Attends college curriculum review meetings, answers questions or concerns on curricular or policy items.

    Coursedog Curriculum Liaison - 15%

    • Works within Curriculum and Assessment, with AABA staff, and the university community to update processes and procedures to make the curriculum processing software portal more efficient and easier to use.
    • Continuously builds knowledge about curriculum processing software portal about how it can best be used to support course and academic catalog functions at NAU by participating in industry listservs, conferences, and user groups.

    Coursedog Curriculum Training and Testing - 15%

    • Provides training to faculty/end users in the form of in-person and online training.
    • Conducts regular testing of curriculum processing software portal maintenance packs, updates and fixes, delivered bundles, and major system upgrades, as well as system modifications unique to NAU, to assure the quality of systems implemented and changed.
    • Researches and tests curriculum processing software portal forms, agenda, workflow, and role changes and improvements.
    • Identifies and investigates technical concerns related to directly supported functions and works with university business analysts and programmers/developers to resolve them. Tests results and modifications in curriculum processing software portal.

    Curriculum Program Support - 5%

    • Conducts policy research for all policy proposals and changes related to curriculum, including obtaining policies from all peer institutions, and conducting analyses of policies as directed by the Assistant Director for Academic Support.
    • Maintains curriculum portal and Teams files for General Studies proposals, providing Knowledge Area and Diversity Perspective proposals to the General Studies Committee (GSC) and Diversity Curriculum Committee (DCC), tracking proposal completion through the systems, and ensuring proposals are updated in the curriculum management software system.
    • Attends all GSC and DCC, and University Undergraduate Committee (UUC) meetings for curriculum related materials, obtains votes from committees, and conveys votes to curriculum management software.
    • Conducts research on new initiatives, collecting data on practices and policies for initiatives from other universities.

    Other - 5%

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications


    • Bachelor's degree in Management/Computer Information Systems/Technology, Business Administration, or related field; AND,
    • Two (2) years of experience in procedural, management and systems analysis work; OR,
    • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications


    • Knowledge of college and university curriculum, policies and procedures.
    • Knowledge of curriculum routing and academic catalog systems and methodologies common to higher education institutions.
    • User experience with student information systems: Oracle/PeopleSoft, Banner, SQL Server, etc. Experience with managing system setup and/or researching and resolving system problems preferred.
    • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Suite.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


    • Knowledge of higher education administrative systems and related business principles.
    • Experience using database systems, such as Oracle, SQL Server, Access.
    • Proven experience in business process management and knowledge of principles and techniques used in performing systems analysis.
    • High attention to accuracy and detail.
    • Skill in organizing work and meeting deadlines.
    • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office.
    • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and tact in working with administrators and faculty to resolve curriculum and technical issues.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting.
    • Ability to quickly learn new software.
    • Ability to work independently and be a proactive problem solver.
    • Ability to manage relationships and projects in an environment of change.
    • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

    Background Information


    Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment.     Salary


    Salary begins at $53,634. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.


    FLSA Status


    This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.


    Benefits


    This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System; paid vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents.
