Description
FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for safely and effectively processing radioactive and/or mixed (hazardous chemical) waste. This is an hourly, non-exempt position.
DUTIES:
Duties include but are not limited to:
· Understand and perform all operational activities in the assigned facility including operation of process equipment, waste tracking, marking and labeling of containers, loading and unloading of shipments and proper forklift operation.
· Read, understand and follow written operating procedures and sub-systems including P&ID drawings.
· Ability to troubleshoot and correct any errors that may occur during operations.
· Knowledge of facility waste streams and appropriate treatment methods.
· Perform system field rounds, monitor all systems and equipment, as required.
· Practice good ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) skills and follow safety rules and postings throughout the facility.
· Follow Environmental Compliance Procedures.
· Attend safety meetings, as required.
· Provide support to all other department personnel as required.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Industrial-type work environment and must be able to work in hot and cold conditions as described above, and occasionally working outside in all weather conditions. Facility work includes the potential for exposure to radiation, noise, dust, hot and cold temperatures, chemicals and walking on uneven surfaces.
Salary Range:
$19.00 - $22.00 / hour

Requirements
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and practice proper lifting techniques and ability to safely drive a fork truck.
· Ability to perform repetitive tasks while standing during extended periods of time.
· Radiological Safety Training; 24hr Hazardous Materials Training required.
· Must be able to wear respiratory protection (includes fit test and physical).
· Must be able to work in hot (greater than 100°F) and cold (less than 32°F) temperatures.
· Must be able to work shift schedules if applicable.
· Be able to demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
