Being a Wafer Process Technician designs and executes test runs and disseminates results to facilitate engineering designs. May require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Wafer Process Technician typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Wafer Process Technician works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Caplugs is looking to hire an energetic and dedicated employee to be a part of our expanding team!! We currently have openings for Process Technicians at our Erie, PA Facility.
The successful candidate will possess broad based troubleshooting skills on injection molding presses and auxiliary equipment. Experience working with a variety of plastic materials, multi-cavity tools, and hot runner molds preferred. Nissei and Arburg Molding Machine experience also preferred.
SUMMARY: Primarily responsible for mold setting and removal and/or maintaining production within a specified section of molding machines as assigned by Foreman.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Login and logout MIU during Set-ups and Start-ups.
· Set molds into molding machines.
· Set auxiliary equipment.
· Visually check part number and shop packet to confirm match.
· Purge out machines and perform color changes.
· Bring out raw materials, verify accuracy to shop packet, verify containers (including color concentrate hopper) are properly labeled.
· Use scrap catch box during start-up prior to approval.
· Start-up machines when needed.
· Submit complete start-up shot to Quality Inspector for start-up approval.
· Notify Process Tech P7 when start-up is completed.
· All start-up parts in scrap catch box are to be removed and disposed of immediately.
· Replace scrap catch box with production catch box after approval.
· Maintain efficiency of production runs, troubleshoot when needed.
· Make entries on the process log when needed.
· Use Navision/Prohelp to access information.
· Monitor machine status, input downtime reasons as needed.
· Monitor active cavitation and scrap, input in MIU.
· If molding machine alarms, remove parts, check for visual defects, dispose of as needed.
· Initiate tool repair requests when needed.
· Initiate machine repair requests when needed.
· Monitor status of Macquire color concentrate feeder and proportional loaders.
· Requisition material when needed.
· Verify material containers (including color concentrate feeders) are properly labeled.
· Collect a complete shut-down shot and attach shot to the mold for last off comparison.
· Remove mold from press and attach the dated tag, and return mold to mold staging area.
· Return unused raw materials to staging area for reweigh and put away before material for the next job is brought out.
· Perform all of the tasks of a Process Tech P7 when needed.
· Responsible for shift activities as assigned in the absence of the Foreman.
· All work is to be performed in accordance with the molding department work instructions where applicable.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma/G.E.D equivalent or combination of relevant experience and the ability to understand all work requirements.
