POSITION PURPOSE

The Supervisor of the Distribution Warehouse is responsible for operational transportation execution of all shipments.  Will work with Customer Service, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance and Distribution to ensure product availability and timely shipments.  Ensures that primary carriers are used as per routing guides and monitor freight spend and monitors operational carrier performance.   The Supervisor will maintain PDI carriers LTL and TL rate guides, manage outbound shipments where PDI pays freight, coordinate all international shipments, prepare and provide all required reporting and perform all other duties assigned. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Lead Transportation/Distribution matters and oversee performance of all Transportation/Distribution functions

• Ensure DC provides timely pre-note tenders to carriers
• Create, track and trend KPIs
• Communicate monthly reports to key stakeholders
• Make recommendations to leadership regarding carrier performance
• Any other required data, reports or pricing
• Collaborate with internal business partners to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals and objectives
• Manage carriers to ensure optimal operational execution
• Maintain data base of all pricing
• Manage all spot pricing if primary or secondary carriers fall off a load or if circumstances require a different routing
• Ensure that all Hazmat materials are in stock and available for international shipments
• Coordinate international inbound shipments
• Manage international outbound shipments (coordinating with customer service, overseas customers, freight forwarders, and drayage companies, correct and accurate documentation
• Manage all outbound shipments where PDI pays freight to ensure lowest possible cost
• Ensure Canadian shipments have correct paperwork and NAFTA’s are up to date
• Audits and approves carrier and customs broker’s invoices
• Obtains rate quotes and makes arrangements for expediting shipments
• Updates US Customs Liquidation Notices spread sheet
• Maintain routing guide with special customer delivery requirements (identify unique delivery requirements and select best suited carrier)
• Manage Transportation/Distribution Coordinator
• Acts as back up to Distribution Manager
• Dotted line reporting to Director, North America Logistics
• All other duties as assigned

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

• Customer service levels (on time deliveries to PDI customers)
• Number of prepaid and collect outbound shipments processed

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

• High School Diploma or GED required. College degree preferred

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Customer service experience beneficial

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• 5 to 10 years of experience in a transportation position with either a manufacturer or transportation carrier.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Exceptional analytical / mathematical skills to review and analyze freight data and cost
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Warehouse office environment in which few hazards exist
• Occasional travel possible (10%)

SALARY RANGE

• $70,000 - $80,000 annually
