Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager supervises the operations and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant to ensure compliance with regulatory procedures and reporting practices. Oversees sampling and testing systems, and the testing and maintenance of pumps, conveyors, blowers, and other equipment. Being a Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager ensures staff is up-to-date with all federal, state, and local regulations and environmental guidelines. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or other tech degree. Additionally, Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager typically reports to a manager or director. The Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Job Description:
     
    Immediate opening for a Water Treatment Specialist in Presque Isle. Excellent daytime schedule with competitive pay and a benefits package that includes health, dental, vision insurance, retirement plan, paid holidays, and PTO. Full-Time/Days; 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday, some weekends required; $19.00-$20.00/hr.
     
    The Water Plant Operator will ensure that all systems within the plant are working at optimal capacity and perform maintenance to prevent deterioration. Employee will keep the facility clean and orderly, monitor water treatment systems and equipment, collect and test water samples, and respond appropriately to any fluctuations in plant performance or water quality. Applicants must have a strong background in custodial and/or maintenance work, good attention to detail, and work well alone or in coordination with a small team of colleagues.
     
    Responsibilities:
     
    • Operate, maintain, and repair all water treatment systems in accordance with facility policies, as well as all local, federal, and state regulations.
    • Collect water samples and perform routine laboratory analysis of water composition and quality to calculate required operational changes.
    • Measure, mix, and administer appropriate chemical treatments to maintain water quality levels.
    • Follow a set maintenance schedule and keep accurate records of completed maintenance and repairs.
    • Identify potential operational deficiencies and plan accordingly to complete short and long-term maintenance and preventative repairs.
    • Remove, install, and monitor water meters.
    • Comply with all mandatory safety, fire protection, and housekeeping requirements. 
    • Properly store and maintain tools and equipment.
    • Operate motor vehicles, including light construction equipment.
    • Perform maintenance in confined spaces.
    • Complete other related duties as assigned or requested by site supervisor.
     
    Job Requirements:
     
    • High school diploma or equivalent education required.
    • Two or more years of maintenance or custodial experience.
    • State of Maine Wastewater Treatment License or ability to attain appropriate licensing.
    • Good computer literacy; working knowledge of MS Office and common office appliances.
    • Must be comfortable working from heights/ladders and in confined spaces.
    • Previous experience in water plant operations or related utility systems a plus.  
     
    Schedule: Full-time/Days; 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday.
    Pay: $19.00-$20.00/hr. and benefits; health, dental, vision insurance, retirement plan, paid holidays, and PTO.
