Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager supervises the operations and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant to ensure compliance with regulatory procedures and reporting practices. Oversees sampling and testing systems, and the testing and maintenance of pumps, conveyors, blowers, and other equipment. Being a Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager ensures staff is up-to-date with all federal, state, and local regulations and environmental guidelines. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or other tech degree. Additionally, Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager typically reports to a manager or director. The Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department.     Duties & Responsibilities

    • Ensure day to day operations, performance and reporting requirements of water treatment systems on site are maintained and conform to operating standards.
    • Assist in control processes of the water treatment systems and adjustments in response to change conditions.
    • Understand and integrate permit and regulatory requirements for on site water treatment systems.
    • Integrate with the water treatment team to develop water treatment solutions to meet compliance requirements.
    • Monitor trace chemical, physical and biological tests and document results.
    • Understand the physical, chemical and biological pathways of environmental pollutants.
    • Implement water management tools, in alignment with long term water management strategies and regulatory authorizations.
    • Develop proactive processes, for water management as part of mine planning to deliver efficiencies in mine development, operations, and regulatory authorizations.
    • Prepare and submit all necessary data and reports to meet regulatory and other commitments, including presentation of technical information to a variety of audiences.
    • Identify areas for innovation to ensure continuous improvement of water treatment and management.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education, Experience & Qualifications

    • Diploma or Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Technology, Chemistry, or a related fields is considered an asset.
    • Valid Driver's License
    • Knowledge or experience in bioreactor technology and other innovative water treatment methods.
    • Understanding of environmental regulations and standards pertaining to water quality and treatment.
    • Previous experience in mining industry or other natural resource sectors, with experience relating to water quality, air quality, environmental effects monitoring is advantageous.
    • Developing skills in building and maintaining relationships with inter-departmental teams, and other key stakeholders.

    Technical Competencies & Skills

    • Must be able to work 12-hour day and night shifts; on a 7x7 rotation.
    • Must be able to communicate in English.
    • Proven safety and attendance record.
    • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • High level of attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and to prioritize tasks effectively.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and communicate effectively with various departments.
    • Familiarity with BC environmental legislation relevant to mining, such as the BC Mines Act, BC Environmental Management Act, Federal Fisheries Act, Federal Species at Risk Act, and BC Wildlife Act.
    • Understanding of risk assessment and management in environmental contexts.
    • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment, including working in various weather conditions and learning to operate all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles as needed.

    Wage and Benefits

Specifically for the Water Treatment Technician role, we offer an annual base salary range of $68,000.00 - $84,000.00, along with a variety of bonuses, including a monthly efficiency bonuses based on safety and production targets, and quarterly retention bonuses. Our benefits package also includes paid vacation and personal days, 7% RRSP matching, and 100% employer-paid extended health and dental care, among other valuable perks.
