MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

M-F 6:00 AM-2:00 PM
SUMMARY: Under general supervision, maintains and repairs wastewater treatment plant equipment and structures, under the direction of the Director, Chemist and Chief Maintenance Mechanic; performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of plant processes, flow patterns, controls, and the operation of all treatment equipment.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA regulations, and safe work practices.
Knowledge of electrical codes, OEM Manuals and reference books.
Knowledge of the function of hand and power tools.
Ability to ensure safe work environment.
Ability to work in a confined space.
Ability to safely handle various process chemicals, recognizes potential hazards, and employs proper procedures and safety equipment.
Ability to react quickly and make independent decisions regarding various operating conditions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: There is frequent need to stand, walk and climb; there is need to sit, twist, bend, stoop, talk or hear, use hands to fingers, lift up to and over fifty (50) pounds, and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. Works closely with hazardous chemicals and materials, mechanical parts, and slow-moving equipment. Position is subject to climbing ladders, overtime and emergency call out. Personnel must be able to work in inclement weather and either alone or with someone. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The equivalent of a High School Diploma; possession of valid commercial driver's license (CDL), or the ability to obtain it within a 3-month time period; previous experience or course work in water or wastewater treatment maintenance is desired or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
