Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager jobs in Newport News, VA

Our company is seeking a dedicated 2nd shift Waste Treatment Operator to join our team. This role is integral to our operations, ensuring that our waste stream meets federal, state, and local government regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining our pretreatment wastewater discharge system, managing waste disposal, and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of our waste treatment areas. Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain the pretreatment wastewater discharge system to ensure proper treatment of facility discharge waters.
• Monitor discharged water for contamination by hazardous wastes throughout the plant and other general waste treatment area operations.
• Manage plating solutions deemed for disposal.
• Prepare product from pretreatment system for short term storage and shipment, including filling and labeling D.O.T. approved containers.
• Prepare hazardous waste for shipment to disposal site, including packaging, labeling, and placing orders.
• Maintain cleanliness of wastewater treatment area and conduct routine maintenance and inspection of hazardous waste storage areas.
• Report any safety, environmental, or quality concerns and take necessary actions, including stopping production or shipments if required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some related experience preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documentation such as safety rules, work process instructions, and memos.
• Ability to follow instructions, accept corrections, contribute ideas, and work well as part of a team.
• Availability to work overtime as needed to meet department goals and to respond to accidental releases 24/7.
