Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager supervises the operations and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant to ensure compliance with regulatory procedures and reporting practices. Oversees sampling and testing systems, and the testing and maintenance of pumps, conveyors, blowers, and other equipment. Being a Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager ensures staff is up-to-date with all federal, state, and local regulations and environmental guidelines. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or other tech degree. Additionally, Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager typically reports to a manager or director. The Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department.     Full-time – Non-Exempt

    Pay Range: $20.61/hr - $24.73/hr. (DOQ)

    Specialized work in the operation of a typical wastewater treatment plant on an assigned shift. Employees are required to know and work in accordance with established plant operating procedures, but they receive specific instructions as to departures to be made from standard procedures. Participates in making minor and major repairs to mechanical equipment, reports any breakdowns. Keeps under close observation the physical condition of wastewater under treatment of proper temperatures, color and odors.

    Essential Duties:

    • Participates in making minor and major repairs to mechanical equipment, reports major breakdowns.
    • Keeps under close observation the physical condition of wastewater under treatment of proper temperatures, color and odors.
    • Operates pumps, agitators, telescope valves, and other equipment in order to treat properly the raw sewage.
    • Makes necessary adjustments to chlorinators, and other operating machinery and equipment.
    • Reads and graduates flow meter charts and log reading and takes samples for chemical analysis.
    • Informs supervisor of any mechanical defects.
    • Assists with the maintenance, repair and the overhaul of lift stations, machinery and equipment.
    • Keeps logs or records pertaining to shift activities.
    • Maintains records and reports.
    • Prepares and submits departmental forms.
    • Performs general maintenance and labor work such as mowing, cleaning, laying pipe and concrete, and painting.
    • Works on-call on a rotation basis on weekends and nights.
    • Performs related functions as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school graduation or GED.
    • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
    • Valid Class C Wastewater Operator’s Certificate issued by the State of Florida mandatory.
    • Minimum of two (2) years continuous experience in water or wastewater operations.
    • A comparable amount of educations and/or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
    • Must complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within 6 months of completion of probationary period.
