Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager supervises the operations and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant to ensure compliance with regulatory procedures and reporting practices. Oversees sampling and testing systems, and the testing and maintenance of pumps, conveyors, blowers, and other equipment. Being a Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager ensures staff is up-to-date with all federal, state, and local regulations and environmental guidelines. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or other tech degree. Additionally, Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager typically reports to a manager or director. The Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs.     Part-time General Manager/ Plant Operator

    Job Summary

    Under the Direction of Avondale Water and Sanitation District Board of Directors, performs and oversees the daily activities of the water and wastewater treatment plants, collection and distribution system.

    The General Manager will undertake a range of administrative activities, respond to enquiries from the public and other organizations, and look after particular aspects of the business.

    The General Manager will work in conjunction with the Board when hiring and firing of office personnel. Make recommendations based on the information in employee’s personnel files, such as a raise for excellent performance or additional actions for negative performance.

    Help plan for short- and long-term finance for the District. Perform tasks to ensure that the staff can work efficiently. For example, equipment and machinery used must be in good working order. Works on yearly transparency notices.

    Oversee the work to ensure it is proceeding on schedule and meets established quality standards. Discussions with staff members on progress on long term projects.

    Serve as primary liaisons between the office and general public through direct contact and help in preparing information.

    Draft letters on behalf of the District.

    Obtain permits form the County and State for installation and repair of water and sewer lines.

    Work involving all aspects of operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment systems. All work must be done in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.

    Essential Job Functions

    Prepare written and electronic forms for submittal to CDPHE. Oversees Construction Projects.

    Performs all the duties of a Plants Operator with proficiency to include but not limited to:

    Performs duties in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plant, wastewater treatment plant, as well as distribution system, collection system, pump stations and storage facilities in a safe manner

    Responsible for the District’s Cross-connection control and Backflow prevention program

    Collect samples, perform laboratory analysis or submit to lab and make changes in processes as well as maintain in written and electronic forms

    Supervises and trains lower classified operators.

    All work must be in compliance with applicable policies, rules, regulations and laws.

    Responds to emergency calls and customers concerns with other employees in the department.

    Must have current driver’s license.

    Must be bondable.

    Ability to pass a drug screen.

    Other duties as assigned by Board.

    Pre-employment Knowledge, abilities and skills

    Knowledge of principles. Practices, materials and equipment used in water and wastewater treatment

    Ability to operate equipment in a safe manner, to maintain effective working relationships with persons at all levels, to write and speak clearly and concisely

    Licenses or Certificates

    Must have and maintain a valid Class “B” Water and Class “C” Wastewater certifications and

    Class 1 Collections and Distribution certification.

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: From $45.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
