Waste Water Treatment Technician ensures that pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment and other waste water treatment equipment are functioning properly. Monitors equipment for potential failures and may make minor repairs or adjustments as needed. Being a Waste Water Treatment Technician collects water samples for chemical analysis. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Additionally, Waste Water Treatment Technician typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Waste Water Treatment Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Solid Waste Technician I
The Public Works Department’s Solid Waste Division seeks individual with great customer service skills to work at the Transfer Station in Port Townsend. The primary responsibilities of this full-time position include working in the Scale House, performing light maintenance, and directing traffic on the tipping floor.
Responsibilities include fee collection, scale house operations, powered industrial truck (forklift) operation, and performing ‘housekeeping’ to keep the site tidy and clean.
Requires ability to walk, stand and/or operate tools up to eight hours/day; occasionally lift up to 25 pounds; possess good common sense; and, be self- directed and motivated.
Requirements: High School Diploma or GED and demonstrated related experience and/or training, or equivalent; and, valid WA State Driver’s License.
Salary: Full pay range $22.77-27.24/hour. Starting pay dependent on qualifications; Excellent Benefit Package.
Workweek: Facility is operated Monday – Saturday. Flexible scheduling may be provided depending on operational needs.
Compensation: Teamsters Grade A4-A position, starting pay typically $22.77 per hour, full pay range: $22.77 to $27.24 per hour. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. Plus 11 paid holidays, PTO, and bereavement leave. May include weekend hours.
